1.0 Brief Introduction:
Biometric Attendance System is implemented in MDL for all employees and currently is in use.
1.1 Background:
In this regard, all the records were obtained from Material – IT Purchase Dept. w.r.t. the procurement and implementation of Biometric Finger Reader Cum Smart Card Readers. After scrutiny, following lapses were observed:
1. There may be any flaw/ bug in SAP programing system while pushing the data from ‘RAW data’ to ‘Employees IN/OUT Time report’ in SAP. Biometric finger print readers are working properly as there is no record available in SAP ‘RAW Data table’ on particular days.
2. Improvement in reliability of Biometric system was needed.
3. The 03 stake holders viz. CIT, HR & Security depts. needs clarity on role definitions.
4. Security department was unable to state the accuracy level of the biometric system.
1.2 Implementation:
Based on the observations, following systemic improvements have been suggested and requested for implementation:
i. Adequate Incident Management System for errors in Biometric Attendance System should be implemented.
ii. The roles & responsibilities of the Executives should be defined clearly in the Incident Management System
1.3 Impact and Benefits:
Due to the implementation of the aforesaid systemic improvements, there will be more clarity in the roles & responsibilities of the Executives assigned with relevant tasks and reliability and integrity of Employees Attendance System will be improved. Recurrence of false punch In/Out will be minimized/ avoided in future.
